Verona's Pizza: A Family Restaurant Website Rebuilt to Win Local and AI Search

Vaughn rebuilt the website for Verona's Pizza, a family-owned Italian kitchen in Fairborn, Ohio with two decades of reputation behind it. The redesign delivered a louder brand voice, a frictionless ordering path, and a full SEO and AEO foundation built so customers and AI search engines can find, trust, and order from the restaurant in one tap.
Objective
How do you take a restaurant that everyone in town already loves and build it an online home that earns the same trust, gets found in local and AI search, and turns a first-time visitor into an order without making them think?
Strategy
Three principles shaped every decision. First, voice over polish: big type, a live deal of the day, and a feel that matches the shop on a Friday night rather than a generic template. Second, one clear action per page: call, order on Clover, or view the menu, with nothing on the page that does not push toward one of those three. Third, real people and real food: owner photography and in-kitchen shots of the 5 a.m. dough toss instead of stock imagery. Underneath all of it, SEO and AEO were treated as the foundation, not a finishing touch, so the site is structured for how both Google and AI tools read and recommend a local business.

Verona's is a family-owned Italian kitchen in Fairborn, Ohio with two decades of hand-kneaded dough behind it. They had the reputation, the regulars, and the wall of five-star reviews. What they did not have was a website that reflected any of it. The old site treated the food, the family, and the call-to-order like a footnote, and it gave Google and AI search engines almost nothing to work with.

This is the kind of business that gets overlooked. Beloved in person, underserved online, and usually handed a cheap template or pushed to the back of a big agency's queue. Verona's deserved better than both, so we rebuilt the entire site from the ground up.

The home page opens loud, anchored by "Fairborn's Favorite Slice," a live deal of the day, a category ticker, and a review carousel pulling real quotes from Google and Facebook. Two calls to action never leave the screen: call to order, or order on Clover. Below the fold, a "Tonight's Hot List" preview gives first-time visitors a reason to keep scrolling.

The menu was the biggest jump. We replaced a downloadable PDF with a full, filterable page covering pizza, calzones, baked pastas, subs, rolls, salads, appetizers, drinks, and desserts, then built two interactive tools on top of it: a Build Your Own Pizza configurator and a Build Your Own Calzone configurator, both with live pricing that updates as toppings are added. Anchor-linked categories and hover-revealed ingredient descriptions keep it usable on any device.

The About page was the one the owner cared about most. A story-driven layout hands the mic to the family: twenty years in kitchens, fifteen of them in Fairborn, and the daily ritual of kneading every pie by hand at 5 a.m. It closes on the part of the job the owner says matters most, the late-night runs, the Friday takeout, and the familiar faces walking through the door.

Then we made sure people could actually find all of it. Technical SEO covered clean semantic structure, fast-loading WebP imagery, proper heading hierarchy, a fully responsive system, a submitted XML sitemap, and unique titles, meta descriptions, and Open Graph tags on every page. Local SEO covered NAP consistency, structured data for the restaurant, hours, menu, and location, and tight integration with the existing Google Business Profile. AEO tied it together so AI engines can summarize and recommend the business with confidence.

We also shipped a contact page with directions, hours, and a catering inquiry path, the Privacy, Terms, and Sitemap pages, a recognition strip surfacing the restaurant's local awards, a custom favicon, social share imagery, and a brand asset kit handed to the owner. The result is built to do three things over time: bring in more first-time customers through stronger local and AI search visibility, convert them faster with a clearer ordering path, and keep regulars loyal by making the brand feel as alive online as it does in the shop. The foundation is clean enough that the owner can keep running the restaurant while the site quietly keeps working in the background.
